Field Trip

A Field Trip To Kachung Water Treatment Facility
The children and school staff at SGU had a great time visiting the Kachung water treatment facility and getting a hands on tour of how it works. Fred said the kids had so much fun on the field trip. Many of the children had never been out of the district of Lira and this made for an exciting day.

Chickens, Goats & Farming

Fred and the children are building a chicken house for their thirty chickens. This teaches the children a new life skill while providing food at the same time. Fred has also added two goats that will provide many lessons on animal husbandry.
Between farming and animal husbandry, these children are learning life long skills that is necessary in Africa. Farming, is one of Fred's favorite things to do.

Our Bike Retuned

We bought a new motorcycle for Sarah, our new caseworker, back in August. The bike was to be used for family visitations in the villages. However, in October the bike was stolen with few leads to the whereabouts. We knew we were unable to purchase another bike and so left this at the Lord's feet to do as He saw fit. Today Fred called to tell us that the bike had been recovered and is now back at Uncle Fred's House. Praise God! Sarah can now continue her work with the children's families that live in far reaching villages. We are grateful.

Harvest Time

The boys at SGU are so excited about the coming harvest. There is so much pride that comes from producing a good crop and the children know that these delicious foods will soon be on their plates.

Fred works hard to teach  the boys all about farming. Growing up on the streets prevents many of these boys from learning the skill.
Without farming knowledge these boys would not be able to feed themselves or their future families.

Meet Sarah Tian

Sarah Tian is the new social worker for SGU. Her job centers around getting to know each child and their needs and facilitating a relationship between child and extended family members. Sarah has created such a bond with the children that they now seek her out to share their goals or problems. Over the coming Holidays, Sarah will be facilitating a time for the children to spend a day with extended family members. This will be a great commitment on all the staff's part in overseeing any issues that may arise. We are grateful for Sarah's dedication and love to the children of SGU.
